| In 1854, the house of Louis Vuitton was
created, with the invention of the flat trunk, covered with his signature gray Trianon
canvas. More creations would follow : 1872 - striped canvas, 1888 - Damier canvas, 1896 -
Monogram canvas. In 1901, he invented the Steamer Bag. The Steamer Bag, the ancestor of
the modern soft luggage, is created as a laundry bag to be kept inside of the wardrobe
trunks. Over time, this bag would become one of the cult bags of the Louis
Vuitton line. in 1914, the Louis Vuitton building opens on the Champs-Elysees as the
largest travel-items store in the world. In 1932, the Noé bag is initially conceived for
a champagne vintner to transport bottles. The Noé would become one of the most celebrated
handbags of the Vuitton line. |
